Anant Chaturdashi is a major sacred festival celebrated on the fourteenth day (Chaturdashi) of the waxing fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the lunar month of Bhadrapada. It marks the concluding tenth day of the Ganeshotsav festival across India.

On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in His infinite form (Ananta Sheshashayi), tying a sacred fourteen-knot thread (Anant Sutra) dyed with turmeric around the wrist after reciting prayers. The fourteen knots symbolize the fourteen planetary realms preserved through cosmic balance.

Simultaneously, massive cultural and religious processions accompany the ritual immersion (Visarjan) of Lord Ganesha idols in the sea, rivers, and lakes, particularly celebrated with grand fanfare in Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat amidst chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya.
